Tyvek, Blueskin and SOPRASEAL building envelope installation
We install Tyvek house wrap and self-adhered air barrier membranes (Henry Blueskin and Soprema SOPRASEAL) on new homes for GTA builders, masons and GCs. The work goes on after sheathing and before cladding, with windows, penetrations and transitions detailed so the wall stays dry behind brick, stone or siding. Working GTA-wide. Call 905-251-0101.
A tight, well-detailed water-resistive barrier protects the house and cuts moisture call-backs after closing. It's also one of the easiest scopes to get wrong when it's rushed between framing and cladding. We give it its own crew and its own place in the schedule.
What we install
Tyvek HomeWrap (DuPont) as the mechanically fastened weather and air barrier on walls.
Blueskin (Henry) self-adhered membrane at windows, doors, transitions and, where specified, as a full-wall air and water barrier.
SOPRASEAL (Soprema) self-adhered air and vapour barrier membrane, comparable to Blueskin, at openings and transitions or across the wall where your drawings specify it.
Tapes, flashing and cap fasteners to the manufacturer's instructions, so laps and seams actually shed water.
Detailing at openings and penetrations: window and door rough openings, vents, hose bibs, electrical boxes and other penetrations.
What's not included: framing and sheathing repairs, window supply or installation, cladding and masonry. We coordinate with those trades so the barrier is ready when they arrive.
Who it's for
Production builders who need envelope crews to keep pace with framing across a phase; custom builders with complex elevations and window details; and GCs who want the barrier installed by a crew that also understands the tarping, insulation and brick ties that follow.
Tyvek HomeWrap: where it fits
Tyvek HomeWrap is a vapour-permeable weather and air barrier. It sheds bulk water and limits air leakage while letting the wall assembly dry outward. It is not a vapour barrier. On most GTA new homes it goes over the sheathing and behind the cladding, lapped shingle-style from the bottom up and taped at seams. Read more: Tyvek house wrap installation.
Blueskin: where it fits
Blueskin VP100 is a self-adhered, vapour-permeable water-resistive air barrier made by Henry. Because it sticks to the substrate, it's the go-to where a fastened wrap isn't enough: around windows, at inside and outside corners, at wall-to-roof and wall-to-foundation transitions and on complex elevations. Other Blueskin products have different properties, so we install the product your drawings specify. Read more: Blueskin air barrier installation.
SOPRASEAL: where it fits
SOPRASEAL is Soprema's line of self-adhered wall membranes. Like Blueskin, it bonds to the substrate and works as an air and vapour barrier, so it goes in the same places: around windows and doors, at inside and outside corners, at wall-to-roof and wall-to-foundation transitions, and across the whole wall where a designer specifies a self-adhered membrane. Soprema makes several SOPRASEAL membranes with different properties (some are vapour-permeable, some are not), so we install the one on your drawings and follow Soprema's data sheet for surface prep, primer, laps and application temperature. Read more: SOPRASEAL and Blueskin membranes.
Windows, penetrations and transitions
Most envelope leaks start at an opening. At windows we prepare the rough opening, install sill protection and integrate the barrier with the window flashing so water is always lapped out, never in. Penetrations get sealed with compatible tapes or membrane. At transitions between materials, such as wrap to membrane or wall to foundation, we lap and seal so there's no gap for air or water.
Sequencing with framing, masonry and siding
Framing and sheathing complete and inspected where required.
Barrier installed: Tyvek, Blueskin or SOPRASEAL on the walls, with openings and penetrations detailed.
Windows and doors installed and integrated with the barrier and flashing (order depends on your window detail).
Exterior insulation and strapping (SOPRA-XPS 20 or SOPRA-ISO V ALU), if your design calls for it. See exterior insulation for new homes.
Brick ties ahead of the masons. See brick tie installation.
Cladding or masonry closes the wall.
We confirm the order with your site super before we start, because window details and inspection timing vary by builder.
Manufacturer instructions and UV exposure limits
House wraps and membranes are tested and warranted when they're installed to the manufacturer's instructions. That covers lap direction, tape, fastener type and spacing, surface prep, primer and temperature limits. It also covers UV exposure: DuPont publishes a limit on how long HomeWrap may be left exposed before cladding (commonly cited as 120 days; check the current DuPont data sheet). If cladding is going to be delayed, tell us and we'll plan the wrap schedule around it. For help choosing a product, read Tyvek vs Blueskin: which belongs on your wall?

Building envelope FAQ
Should I use Tyvek or Blueskin?
Often both: Tyvek on the field of the wall and Blueskin at windows, corners and transitions. Your drawings and energy-code path decide the rest. See our Tyvek vs Blueskin guide.
Do you install Soprema SOPRASEAL?
Yes. SOPRASEAL is Soprema's self-adhered air and vapour barrier membrane, comparable to Blueskin. We install the SOPRASEAL product your drawings specify, at openings and transitions or across the wall.
Is Tyvek a vapour barrier?
No. Tyvek HomeWrap is a vapour-permeable weather and air barrier. It lets the wall dry outward.
How long can house wrap stay exposed before cladding?
Check the manufacturer's current data sheet. DuPont publishes a UV exposure limit for HomeWrap (commonly cited as 120 days). We schedule wrap so it isn't sitting exposed past the limit.
Do you flash windows?
Yes. Window and door openings are detailed and integrated with the barrier so water laps out.
Will the barrier be ready for inspection?
We install to the manufacturer's instructions and your drawings, and we'll walk the elevations with your site super before the inspection if you'd like.
